Incident Activity July 2016

Friday, July 1

Berthoud Engine 1 responded to a motor vehicle accident on I-25 mm 255. Engine 1 arrived and found a two-vehicle accident with moderate damage and all parties out of the vehicles. The crew stabilized the vehicles and assisted with traffic.

BFPD was dispatched to respond to a report of a five-vehicle accident. All parties were out of the vehicles. TVEMS transported one patient complaining of neck pain. Colorado State Patrol arrived and began to clear the roadway.

Saturday, July 2

Berthoud Fire responded to Berthoud Living Center for a medical.

BFPD was dispatched to the 800 block of Greenwood Drive for a male having a seizure. TVEMS assumed patient care.

Berthoud Fire responded to the 100 block of Bunyan Avenue for a sick person. TVEMS assumed patient care.

Berthoud Fire responded to Berthoud Living Center for a medical.

BFPD was dispatched to the 100 block of Indiana Avenue for a man with breathing problems. The crew helped load the patient for transport.

Sunday, July 3

Berthoud Fire responded to Berthoud Living Center for a medical.

BFPD was dispatched to the block of 6200 block of W. Cty Road 4 for a grass fire. They found a small controlled burn. The crew advised homeowner how to obtain a burn permit through Larimer County.

Berthoud Engine 16 responded to I-25 mm 250 SB for a grass fire in the median. The crew extinguished the 20×20 grass fire.

BFPD responded to Hwy 287 just west of Cty Road 17 for a 10×10 grass fire. The fuel was short grass and not moving very fast. Within a few minutes Engine 26 had extinguished the fire and mopped up.

Monday, July 4

Berthoud Fire responded to Berthoud Living Center for a medical problem.

BFPD responded to Hwy 56 for an illegal burn. There was a large bonfire on the back of the property that was filled with trash. The crew extinguished the fire.

Tuesday, July 5

Chief 2 and Engine 23 responded to a utility pole on fire from an agricultural ditch burn. Pole involved was a guide pole with no live wires attached. The crew extinguished the fire.

BFPD responded to 5000 block of Hwy 287 bypass for a grass fire. Engine 16 and Engine 26 extinguished the fire.

Berthoud Fire responded to a grass fire near the intersection of Cty Road 23 and Cty Road 6. The crew found debris burning, no active fire, just some hot spots smoking. All hot spots were extinguished.

BFPD responded to Cty Road 5 and Hwy 56 for a motor vehicle accident. This was a 2-vehicle accident with heavy damage to both. All parties were out of the vehicles with no injuries.

Berthoud Fire was dispatched to 4000 block of Glen Drive for an 81-year-old female who was having medical issues. TVEMS assumed patient care.

BFPD responded to the 3700 block of W. Larimer Cty Road 10 for a medical. The crew assisted TVEMS with packaging the patient for transport.

Wednesday, July 6

BFPD was dispatched to I-25 mm 249 SB for a 3-vehicle rear end type accident with no injuries. Once debris was removed from roadway, Colorado State Patrol cleared BFPD from scene.

While training at Berthoud High School, Berthoud Fire received a fire alarm call at the high school. The crew did a search of the building and found a smoke detector that had malfunctioned.

Engine 2 responded to Larimer Cty Road 8E for a single motorcycle accident. TVEMS assumed patient care and command was turned over to Larimer County Sheriff.

Thursday, July 7

BFPD was dispatched to the 300 block of Massachusetts Avenue for a 52-year-old female having breathing problems. The crew assisted TVEMS with packaging the patient for transport.

Berthoud Fire was dispatched to 1000 W Cty Road 6 for a sick person. TVEMS assumed patient care.

BFPD responded to Larimer Cty Road 29 and Larimer Cty Road 18C for a fast moving grass fire. The fire was contained to approximately 13 acres.

Berthoud Fire responded to the 500 block of Driftwood Circle for a medical. TVEMS assumed patient care.

BFPD was dispatched to the 300 block of Goose Hallow Road for a sick person. TVEMS assumed patient care.

Friday, July 8

Berthoud Fire responded to the 4000 block of Glen Drive for an 81-year-old female having breathing problems. When TVEMS arrived,  patient care was transferred to them.

BFPD responded to the 900 block of 6th Street for a medical assist. The crew assisted TVEMS with packaging the patient for transport.

Berthoud Fire was dispatched to a small grass fire on Cty Road 17. Several vehicles had stopped to put the grass fire out. Engine 16 proceeded to mop up the area and looked for hot spots. The fire burned approximately 8×8 area of grass on the east shoulder.

Saturday, July 9

BFPD responded to the 200 block of Victoria Street for a medical. TVEMS assumed patient care.

BFPD responded to the 600 block of S. 9th Street for a person with abdominal pain. TVEMS took over patient care.

Berthoud Fire responded to grass/wildland fire at the intersection of Yellowstone Road and Highway 287. This was a fast moving grass fire that was catching several utility poles on fire and was about 400 feet from structures. The total size of the fire is estimated to be 4.5 acres. With mutual aid from Loveland Fire Department and Mt. View Fire Protection District. The crew was able to control the head of the fire and slow additional fire growth. Poudre Valley REA was notified that 3-5 power poles were affected by the fire and arrived prior to units clearing scene.

BFPD responded to the 3000 block of W. Cty Road 8 for a single vehicle accident with moderate front-end damage. The vehicle occupant was outside of the car walking around. The driver refused any medical care or treatment from TVEMS. Upon the arrival of the Colorado State Patrol, the scene was turned over to them.

Sunday, July 10

BFPD was dispatched to Welch Avenue for a sick person. TVEMS assumed patient care.

Berthoud Fire responded to the 2000 block of S. Hwy 287 for a vehicle that was down in a ditch. The vehicle had minor damage. The driver stated he fell asleep and was not injured, just shaken up. The accident scene was turned over to Colorado State Patrol.

Tuesday, July 12

Berthoud Fire responded to the 700 block of Wilfred Road for a lift assist.

BFPD responded to the 1200 block of Arapaho Drive for a female wgi had fallen and cut her knee. TVEMS took over patient care.

Wednesday, July 13

Berthoud Fire was dispatched to the intersection of Hwy 287 and Cty Road 17 for a 2-vehicle accident. Upon arrival found 2 cars with light damage. All parties were out of the vehicles with no injuries. Larimer Cty Sheriff requested that Engine 1 stay on scene to assist with traffic control.

BFPD responded to I-25 mm 252 NB for a motor vehicle accident. All parties were out of their vehicles with no injuries. Colorado State Patrol arrived and scene was turned over to them.

Berthoud Fire was dispatched to the 300 block of Bimson Avenue for a diabetic issue. TVEMS assumed patient care.

BFPD responded to the 1100 block of Bimson Avenue for a male with breathing issues. The crew assisted TVEMS with lifting the patient.

Thursday, July 14

BFPD responded to I-25 mm 250 SB for a multi motor vehicle accident. A semi-tractor-trailer had jackknifed in lane 1, hitting 2 United States Forest Service apparatus with 9 occupants. The semi spilled approximately 50 gallons of diesel fuel on to the road. Colorado State Patrol requested that the CDOT hazmat unit come out and apply oil dry to spill. TVEMS transported 2 patients to MCR.

Friday, July 15

Berthoud Fire responded to I-25 mm 249 SB for a single vehicle that was off the road. The crew assisted TVEMS with loading a patient for transport. Vehicle was checked for hazards, finding none, scene was turned over to Colorado State Patrol.

BFPD responded to the 2800 block of Pheasant Run for a 55 year old male having chest pains. The crew assisted TVEMS with packaging the patient for transport.

Saturday, July 16

Berthoud Fire responded to the 300 block of Nebraska for a medical. TVEMS assumed patient care.

BFPD was dispatched to the 1200 block of Aspen Drive for a male having an allergic reaction from a bee sting. Squad 11 assisted TVEMS with packaging the patient for transport.

BFPD responded to a residential fire alarm on the 1500 block of Sherman Drive. The homeowner stated she believed the smoke alarm going off was a battery issue. The smoke detector was possibly 30 years old. There was no signs of smoke in the house. After removing the detector for inspection, found it was covered with an accumulation of dust with no listed manufacture date on the unit. With agreement from the homeowner, the smoke detector was not reinstalled. The crew advised the homeowner that a new detector needed to be purchased. And if the she had any issues with the installation of the new smoke detector to give Station 2 a call.

BFPD responded to I-25 mm 252SB for a three-car motor vehicle accident. All three parties out of the vehicles with no injuries. Engine 1 put down oil dry and cleared up the spill. There were no other hazards present. Colorado State Patrol remained on scene waiting for a tow truck to arrive.

Berthoud Fire was dispatched to a grass/wildland fire in the area of Larimer Cty Road 8 and Larimer Cty Road 23. On arrival Engine 226 found a one-acre grass fire in light-flashy fuels, with a moderate to rapid rate of spread. On-scene units made a quick knockdown of the fire. Mop-up operations were completed utilizing the spray bars of Engine 226.

Tuesday, July 19

Berthoud Fire responded to the 2700 block of Martingale Drive for a 2-year-old boy having a seizure. TVEMS assumed patient care.

BFPD was dispatched to the 700 block of Wilfred Road for a lift assist.

BFPD had a man walk into Station 1 experiencing chest pains. TVEMS assumed patient care.

Squad 11 responded to the 2400 block of Eugene for a medical. Upon arrival the crew assisted TVEMS with packaging the patient for transport.

Berthoud Fire responded to Berthoud Living Center for a medical.

BFPD was dispatched to the 700 block of Wilfred Road for a medical. The crew assisted TVEMS with packaging the patient for transport.

Wednesday, July 20

BFPD responded to Hwy 287 for a motor vehicle accident. This was a 2-car rear end type collision, with light damage. All parties were out of the vehicles with no injuries. The scene was then turned over to Larimer Cty Sheriff Dept.

Berthoud Fire was dispatched to the 15000 block of 95th Street for a medical. TVEMS assumed patient care, the crew assisted TVEMS with packaging the patient for transport.

BFPD responded to the Carter Lake north marina boat ramp for a medical. The crew assisted TVEMS with packaging the patient for transport.

Thursday, July 21

BFPD responded to the 3400 block of North Shore for a female having seizures. TVEMS assumed patient care

Friday, July 22

Berthoud Fire was dispatched to Berthoud Living Center for a medical.

BFPD responded to a grass fire in Sedona Hills. A total of 31 acres burned with no structures lost. Mutual aid units from Poudre Fire, Loveland Fire, Front Range Fire, Longmont Fire, Mt. View Fire and Larimer Cty Emergency Services responded.  An air tanker made 2 drops and was successful in knocking main body of fire down. After mop up was complete Berthoud Station 2 initiated fire watch overnight.

BFPD responded to the end of Sprague Lane for a lightning strike grass fire at the base of an evergreen tree. Engine 26 extinguished the smoldering grass fire.

Berthoud Fire responded to the 600 block of Welch Avenue for a sick person. Crew assisted TVEMS with packaging of patient for transport.

Saturday, July 23

BFPD responded to the 400 block of Macolm Street for a 60-year-old female with a hip injury. TVEMS assumed patient care.

Berthoud Fire was dispatched to the 400 block of Welch Avenue for a medical. TVEMS assumed patient care.

Berthoud Station 1 received a call from a homeowner at 7138 Sedona Hills Drive to report smoldering wood chips under the deck and surrounding area remaining from a wildland fire that occurred the day prior. Engine 23 sprayed the underside of the deck and the wood chips below. Then finished with coating the area with a layer of foam. Further, Engine 23 applied a 50’ wet line around the backyard of the residence.

BFPD was dispatched to the 500 block of 7th Street for a medical. The crew assisted TVEMS with loading the patient for transport.

Berthoud Fire responded to the 800 block of Ranchhand Drive for a medical. TVEMS assumed patient care.

BFPD responded to the Berthoud Living Center for a medical.

Berthoud Fire was dispatched to the 3000 Branding Iron Way for a medical. Upon arrival of TVEMS patient care was transferred.

BFPD had a female in need of medical assistance walk into Station 1. TVEMS assumed patient care.

Sunday, July 24

BFPD responded to the 15000 block of N. 95th Street for a medical. The crew assisted TVEMS with packaging of the patient for transport.

Sunday, July 25

BFPD responded to a fuel leak from a non-injury motor vehicle accident. The 2-vehicle motor accident occurred at the intersection of Cty Road 8 and Hwy 287. Engine 2 found a 2-vehicle rear-end type collision. Engine 2 confirmed that there was minor fluid spill from the engine compartment of one of the vehicles. Engine 2 mitigated the fluid spill with oil-dry, and then the scene was turned over to Larimer Cty Sheriff Department.

Berthoud Fire was dispatched to the 3400 block of Larimer Cty Road 29 for a medical. TVEMS assumed patient care.

BFPD responded to the 4200 block of Meining Road for a medical. The crew assisted TVEMS with packaging the patient for transport.

BFPD had a female walk into Station 1 having difficulty breathing. TVEMS assumed patient care. The patient choose not to be transported.

Tuesday, July 26

BFPD responded to the 900 block of Bruce Drive for a medical. The crew assisted TVEMS with patient care and packaging.

Berthoud Fire was dispatched to the 200 block of 2nd Street for a medical. Engine 1 crew began assessment and gathering information from the patient. The scene was then turned over to TVEMS. The patient requested transport to McKee Medical Center.

BFPD responded to the 200 block of Goose Hollow for a medical. They found a male lying down in his back yard having chest pains. The crew assisted TVEMS with packaging the patient for transport.

Squad 11 was dispatched to Berthoud Living Center for a medical.

Wednesday, July 27

BFPD was dispatched to the 200 block of 2nd Street for a medical. TVEMS assumed patient care. Squad 11 assisted by obtaining the pram and loading the patient into the ambulance.

Thursday, July 28

Berthoud 2 responded to Rocky Peak Drive for a single vehicle that was stuck in a dry bar ditch. The vehicle had mild damage and was upright. There were no injuries, with a male out of the vehicle. Berthoud 2 turned scene over to Colorado State Patrol.

BFPD responded to the 3100 block of Sparrow Hawk Lane for a medical. TVEMS assumed patient care.

Friday, July 29

BFPD responded to the 200 block of 2nd Street for a 72 year old male having medical issues. The crew assisted TVEMS with packaging the patient for transport.

Engine 1 responded to the 4700 block of East View Drive for a medical. TVEMS assumed patient care.

Saturday, July 30

BFPD responded to 7000 block of W. Cty Road 8E for a cyclist down. TVEMS assumed patient care, the crew assisted with packaging the patient for transport.

Berthoud Engine 2 responded to the 200 block of N. Cty Rd 23. A 16-year-old female had fallen off a horse and hit her head. TVEMS assumed patient care.

BFPD responded to the 17000 block of Weld Cty Road 5 for a patient with a traumatic head injury that was bleeding profusely. The crew assisted TVEMS with patient care.

Sunday, July 31
