Tuesday, Aug. 25 Vandalism at Berthoud High School was the subject of an 8:30 a.m. call. A drinking fountain had been ripped from the wall in the varsity boy’s locker room on the previous day. A female driver reported that another female driver was trying to ram into her car. The report came from the vicinity of U.S. Highway 287 and County Road 10E. Police Beat: Aug. 27, 2009

Tuesday, Aug. 18 An east Nebraska Avenue resident reported finding a female child in his yard in late afternoon. The child did not know where she lived. It only took the police about three minutes to find out that the child lived on east Iowa and had left the yard while her mother took a nap. Police responded to a complaint about trash piled around the Berthoud Living Center. Apparently there was a problem with two trash hauling companies and center staff promised to get things cleaned up by ... Full Story

Monday, Aug. 10 A 16-year-old female reported that her 18-speed bicycle was missing after she spent some time in the swimming pool at Berthoud Park. Tuesday, Aug. 11 Police found no criminal violation in a physical disturbance in the 800 block of Jay Place. Police received a noise complaint about a rooster on Common Drive that crows off and on all day. A code violation in the 400 block of Franklin Avenue led to a written warning being issued. Police Beat: Aug. 13, 2009

Tuesday, Aug. 4 Police found a five-gallon propane tank in the 300 block of Victoria Avenue. The bottle was logged into the found property and is stored in the city garage. Berthoud Police received a call from the Larimer County Sheriff’s office about two males on the Burlington Northern train. The train stopped in Berthoud and the police removed the two from the train. A water department employee notified police that longhorn cattle were on the roadway at County Road 17 at County Road 10E. ... Full Story

Tuesday, July 28 A Third Street resident reported finding a bat in her garage. Her cat had found it first and she wanted advice on what to do. She would have no problem disposing of the bat or letting if free if it was still alive. A check of an abandoned vehicle parked in the 900 block of Wilshire Drive. showed it was stolen and the vehicle was towed. Tuesday, July 21 A family outing at Berthoud Park took a bad turn after it started to rain. Dad gave the girls the key to the vehicle so they could get out of the rain. The 12-year-old needed to roll up the window but in the process of turning the key to power the window she turned it too far and started the truck. Tuesday, July 14 A caller from the 200 block of Mountain Avenue reported a dead foul smelling skunk beside the building. A window was found broken out of the swimming pool building. Wednesday, July 15 A vehicle waiting to make a left turn from County Road 8 onto southbound U.S. Highway 287 was the victim of a hit and run when the car in front of her backed into her vehicle. Tuesday, July 7 Police responded to a call from Larimer County weed control district concerning property near west County Road 8 and Highway 287. There was complaint about weeds in the lot. Code Enforcement is in the process of determining the property’s owner. A female resident in the 200 block of east Nebraska Aveneue received over a dozen mid-morning phone calls with no one on the line.  She could not indentify the number and was referred to the phone company to block nuisance ... Tuesday, June 30 A prowler reported in the Pinewood mobile home park at 12:34 a.m. was gone when police arrived two minutes later. At 3:35 a.m., after loud noise had been going on for hours in the 500 block of Fifth Street, a complaint was registered and police issued a verbal warning. A barking dog in the 600 block of Munson Court brought a visit from the Code Enforcement Officer. He too heard the barking and contacted the owner who said she would muzzle the dog. Tuesday, June 23 Barking dogs on Cedar Drive prompted a complaint in the early afternoon. The caller said he called the night before about the same dogs. Thistle growing everywhere at N. County Road and Lake Avenue was the complaint. The Code Enforcement Officer was advised. Dogs in the 600 block of Eighth Street were reported to have been barking for an hour and half.
