Fort Collins offers youth programs for 2011


From Sports to Arts, Fort Collins Recreation has a program for your child.

December 30, 2010 (FORT COLLINS, Colorado) – The City of Fort Collins Recreation Department offers a wide variety of youth programs to start off the New Year.  From youth team sports like Basketball to creative opportunities like Artists Café, Recreation has a program your child can benefit from while exploring new opportunities and meeting new friends.

Youth Boys Basketball
Grades: 2-8
Teams are filling quickly for the 2011 Boys Recreation Basketball season presented by The City of Fort Collins Recreation Department.  The league is open to all boys in grades 2-8.  Two practices per week with games on Saturday mornings.  Cost $59.

Beginning Cartooning
Ages: 6-10  
Learn to draw people, animals and more!  Class held on Thursdays, 5-6:00 PM at the Northside Aztlan Community Center.  January 6-20. Cost $29

Flip Book Cartooning
Ages: 8-12
Create moving cartoons!  Class held on Thursdays, 6:30-7:30 PM at Northside Aztlan Community Center.  January 6-20.  Cost $29

Mommy, Daddy and Me Sign Language (Baby Sign language)
Ages: 6 months-2 years
Sign language class for Baby and 2 adults!  Class held on Wednesdays, 11:00 AM to Noon at Northside Aztlan Community Center.  January 5-26.  Cost $36

I Want To Be a Scientist
Ages: 3-6
What is it like to be a scientist? Explore, learn, discover! Class held on Tuesdays, 10-11:30 AM at Northside Aztlan Community Center.  January 11 – Physics, January 18 – Magnets, January 25 -Vet Medicine. Cost $13

Artists Café
Ages 6-12
Learn about the featured artist and explore their technique through play and experimentation.
Class held on Mondays 4:30-6:00 PM at Northside Aztlan Community Center.  January Featured Artists: January 10 – Picasso, January 24 – Dali, January 31 – Picasso.  Cost $13

Marvelous Mondays
Ages 2-6
Moms, caregivers and kids, start your week and your New Year out right! Kids will have fun with arts and crafts, learning games, story time and gym play. Moms / caregivers can use this class to get their work out in or errands completed.  Morning and afternoon sessions are available.  Class held on Mondays 9:30-11:30 AM or 12:30-2:30 PM at Northside Aztlan Community Center.  January Dates: 1/10, 1/24, 1/31. Cost $10

Kids Night In
Ages 3-10
Kids will enjoy a night in while parents enjoy a well deserved night out! Pizza, movies, gym time and arts & crafts will all be part of the fun! FYI: Parents! Kids Night In date(s) coincide with DBA’s First Friday Gallery Walk.  Friday, 1/6 5-9:00 PM at Northside Aztlan Community Center. Cost $21

Intro to Digital Photography
Ages 9-12
This introductory digital photography class will help young people (and their parents) get off auto-mode and learn how their digital camera works. Class will cover basic composition, how to get the shot, when to use a flash, why your pictures are blurry and will explore editing techniques. Parents may attend for an additional $10.  Classes held on Saturdays, 1/15-1/22, 10-11:30 AM at Northside Aztlan Community Center.
