Update July 2, 2018 Friday, June 1 Citizen assist at Station 1 for installing a car seat. The Technician instructed the parents on the correct use of the child restraint system. Updated June 1, 2018 Berthoud Fire Protection District Incident Activity May 1 - 6 Monday, April 30 BFPD responded to Suzie Lane and Hwy 60 for a 3-vehicle accident. Colorado State Patrol was on scene and all parties were out of the vehicles. The crew did mitigation on leaking fluids. Updated May 1, 2018 Berthoud Fire Protection District Incident Activity Sunday, April 1 Berthoud Fire responded to a grass fire in the block of 115th Street and Ish Reservoir. The crew found a fallen cottonwood tree on fire. The property owner came out and stated he lit the fire so he could place piping in the ground. Upon arrival found a low hanging wire as well as a wire that was touching the ground. Xcel Energy arrived and disconnected the power and moved the all the wires out of the roadway. Berthoud Fire loves giving back to its community. One of the ways it does that is to have a kid's bicycle giveaway every year. At this year's Berthoud Oktoberfest instead of bicycles the Fire District gave away two Razor scooters and helmets. One of the winners is their new friend Oliver Groeneman who is 10-years-old. The other recipient was a 4-year-old girl who was so excited to get her scooter home that, unfortunately, she didn’t get her photo taken.

There will be a graveside service on Friday, July 28 at 2:00 p. m. at the Greenlawn Cemetery East of Berthoud Harold Kitten, longtime resident of Berthoud passed away on Friday, July 21 at the age of 94. He was born in Lawrence, Nebraska to Alvin H. and Mary L. Kitten on September 14, 1922. At the age of 8, the family moved to Stratton, Colorado where they took up dryland farming.
